About the Role
The Data Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliable delivery of data products, tools, and services across the business, maintaining platform health, and driving operational excellence. This role leads a high-performing team of Data Operations Engineers, balancing BAU support with strategic change initiatives, while shaping modern data operations capabilities aligned to the Group’s Data Strategy. Acting as a technical SME and influential member of the extended leadership team, the role provides guidance on monitoring, alerting, and data management practices. Strong leadership, technical expertise in data platforms and tooling, and experience in data engineering and operations are essential.
What you'll be responsible for
· Ensure robust, resilient, and effective delivery of data products, tools, and services across the business.
· Maintain pipeline and platform health, define SLAs with senior stakeholders, and enable rapid issue resolution.
· Provide 2nd-line and 3rd-line technical SME support for platforms, tools, and services delivering operational and analytical data.
· Establishing processes for proactive incident management and root cause analysis to minimize downtime.
· Lead, manage, and develop a team of Data Operations Engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
· Drive the implementation of modern Data Operations capabilities aligned with the Group’s Data Strategy.
· Contribute to shaping the Group Data function as part of the extended leadership team, defining success measures, representing the department, and influencing stakeholders.
· Offer technical guidance on Data Operations (alerting, monitoring, and management) to ensure solutions meet company standards and desired outcomes.
· Balance BAU data operations with change programs while managing a high-demand team.
About you

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence effectively.
· Self-starter, team player, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated integrity and leadership experience in data engineering, support, or operations teams.
· Proficiency in SQL and/or Python, with solid understanding of Data Warehouse design and Data Lake architectures.
· Experience of managing data operations in cloud environments (AWS/Azure), hybrid, and on-premises, with a working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code.
· Ability to respond effectively to incidents, including root cause analysis, rapid remediation, and communication with stakeholders.
· Familiarity with data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, Power BI, and MuleSoft (highly desirable).
· Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow and observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or Prometheus (desirable).
· Familiarity with work management tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow (desirable).
· Background in financial services, particularly wealth and asset management (desirable).
