Job Title:  Finance Data Manager

Department: Finance

Location: Liverpool

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting to: Liam Stoddart

 

The Role

Responsible for overseeing the integration and governance of financial data across the organization. This role will work closely with the Central Data Office to ensure effective data flows between operational systems and finance systems. The Finance Data Manager will also be hands-on in building data models for SAP Analytics Cloud and Power BI, providing essential data insights to finance teams. Additionally, this role will involve the combining of standard and non-standardized data to create cohesive datasets that support comprehensive analysis and reporting.

 

Outcomes of the Role

 

Data Governance and Compliance

  • Collaborate with the Central Data Office to establish data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with data policies and standards, focusing on data quality and integrity.

Data Flow Management

  • Manage data flows between finance systems and operational systems, ensuring seamless integration and accuracy of data.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies and issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Combining Standard and Non-Standardised Data

  • Develop methodologies for integrating standard and non-standardised data sources to create unified datasets for analysis.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure that combined datasets meet analytical needs.

Data Development

  • Lead data development initiatives, including the design and implementation of data models.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines to support analytics and reporting requirements.

Data Modelling

  • Develop and maintain data models for SAP Analytics Cloud and CMI / Power BI, enabling finance insight teams to derive actionable insights.
  • Work closely with finance teams to understand their data needs and translate them into effective data models.

Collaboration and Support

  • Act as a liaison between finance and IT teams to ensure alignment on data-related projects and initiatives.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in data management or analytics (e.g., CDMP, Microsoft Data Analyst) is a plus.
  • Significant experience in data management or analytics, preferably within a finance function.
  • Proven experience working with data warehouses and data integration processes

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in data visualisation tools (SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, SAP Business Objects).
  • Experience with data modelling, ETL processes, and integrating disparate data sources. (Alteryx, Snowflake)
  • Familiarity with finance systems and operational data sources.

Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to analyse complex data sets, including combining standard and non-standardized data, to derive meaningful insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
