Job Title:  Finance Data Reporting Manager

Department: Finance

Location: Liverpool

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting to: Liam Stoddart

 

Purpose

To lead the delivery of governed, accurate, and timely financial data reporting across Finance. This role ensures robust validation, oversight of monthly data extracts, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement through automation and governance. The Manager also develops the team and aligns output to Finance’s strategic goals.

 

What are the responsibilities of the role?

 

Reporting Ownership & Delivery

• Own the delivery of structured, timely, and accurate finance data reporting, including scheduled and ad-hoc outputs across key reporting cycles (daily, monthly, quarterly, year-end).
• Act as the owner of Finance Systems & Data reporting outputs, ensuring they are standardised, branded, and aligned with business expectations. Oversee reporting frameworks and continuous improvement.

Data Governance & Control

• Lead the validation, reconciliation and governance of Finance data sets – ensuring consistency with definitions, auditability, and traceability to source systems.
• Oversee and enhance the framework for reporting governance, quality control and documentation. Implement checks, validations, and reporting sign-off protocols.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

•  Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure reporting and extracts meet requirements. Act as a strategic partner on reporting and data usage.

Team Support & Oversight

• Provide leadership to the Data Reporting team – setting direction, coaching and developing individuals, and ensuring clear prioritisation of workload.

Technical Oversight & Data Integration

• Act as a key liaison with Technology teams, ensuring any developments, fixes, or enhancements to reporting tools (e.g. BOBJ, SAC) are well understood, tested, and delivered to specification.
• Ensure robust handover of structured data outputs from Data Management (e.g. MDS tables, DWH extracts), and lead the integration of new or changed data into reporting.

Continuous Improvement & Enablement

• Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes – promoting efficiency, automation, and scalability of outputs.
• Champion self-service enablement by ensuring clear data structures, standardised outputs, and appropriate controls are in place.

 

What skills and knowledge are we seeking?

 

Reporting Expertise

• Advanced knowledge of structured reporting and finance data flows
• Strong grasp of data governance, validation frameworks, and reporting controls
•  Able to translate Finance needs into structured reporting outputs

Tools & Technology

• High proficiency in SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or similar
• Experienced with data modelling, reporting automation, data extract processes

Communication & Influence

• Strong stakeholder engagement; able to represent FS&D in business and technical discussions
• Ability to explain reporting logic and definitions to both technical and non-technical users

Process & Governance

• Process-oriented mindset with focus on standardisation, automation, governance and continuous improvement

Collaboration & Coaching

• Confident overseeing workload distribution, providing coaching and development to the team

Strategic Insight

• Capable of shaping the reporting strategy and driving forward best practice for structured, scalable, and standardised outputs
 
 
Professional experience and qualifications
 
• Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field desirable.
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a finance or reporting role, with a focus on data analysis and reporting.
• Proven experience in managing data reporting processes within a financial function
