The Role
Provide regulatory oversight of RAM’s key outsourced suppliers, determined as a Critical/Material supplier under FCA SYSC8 rules for UK funds. Assist the Fund Accounting Oversight Manager with the oversight of HSBC UK and Lux for Custody, Fund Accounting, and FX Overlay, as well as Northern Trust as RAM’s appointed outsourced dealer. Similar oversight is also performed supporting RAM’s offshore fund range regulated by the CSSF.
Work closely with the Group Procurement function to ensure adherence to the Rathbones Vendor Risk Framework, hold regular service reviews with non-SYSC8 vendors, and maintain oversight of functions providing outsourced services internally to RAM from the Rathbones Group (HR, Finance, Risk, IT, Distribution, Marketing, Treasury, Performance, etc).
Run day to day Oversight and Control processes.
Assist the Fund Accounting Oversight Manager with managing projects which are being led by the RAM Oversight and Control Team.
Assist the wider team on various ad-hoc projects and following changes (e.g. new fund launches, new markets, etc) facilitate the necessary amendments to the team’s schedule.
Outcomes of the Role
- Assist in the day-to-day running and annual oversight of HSBC covering fund accounting, custody and FX overlay to ensure issues are resolved and preventative measures implemented.
- Assist in the annual due diligence and oversight of Northern Trust’s outsourced dealing processes.
- Attend monthly calls with HSBC and Northern Trust to monitor KPIs and continually develop working relationships with their relationship managers and wider teams.
- Ensure TPA contracts are stored in a central location.
- Attend industry seminars and user groups to keep up to date with regulations and other industry developments.
- Maintain a robust monitoring schedule.
- Ensure oversight work is evidenced to allow regulatory checks.
- Be aware of FCA and CSSF regulations and ensure changes are reflected in the team’s oversight.
- Assist in the preparation of the reports and accounts for regulated funds to ensure they are published in the permitted timeframe.
- Calculate the synthetic OCF semi-annually.
- Attend project calls and assist the Oversight & Control Manager with maintaining project documentation.
- Prepare minutes for committees and project meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Educated to at least A level or equivalent with good GCSE Maths and English.
- At least 2 years experience in a role within the Asset Management industry.
- Knowledge of fund accounting required.
- PC Literate essential.
- Intermediate Word and Excel skills required to include various Excel functions such as VLookup.
- Experience at working on projects.
- Experience at minute taking.
- Must enjoy working in a small team.
- A flexible approach will be required and there may be a need to work late from time to time.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
