Job Title: Senior Technology Risk Specialist
Department: Operational Risk
Location: Leeds or Liverpool
Contract Type: Permanent
Reporting to: Mark Baker
The Role
Support the Head of Operational Risk & Data Protection and their line manager with development, implementation and embedding of the Rathbones Group risk management framework, with a specific focus on IT and security related operational risk and other non-financial risks. Support and challenge management in meeting their responsibilities for managing risk.
Outcomes of the Role
- Contribute to the implementation of IT and security risk frameworks, policies, and practices to identify, assess, measure, mitigate and report risk exposures.
- Proactively assist with supporting development of enterprise risk management, including risk appetite with first and 2nd line functions.
- Collaborate and provide guidance and coordinate IT risk activities with other assurance functions.
- Assist IT incident response activities, root cause, actions and lessons learned to mitigate risk.
- Robust review and challenge of IT and security risk management activities with the business; including: RCSAs, targeted risk assessments (as required), assessing risk events (inc. root cause) and issues/actions management.
- Support with the on-going assessment and monitoring of current and emerging IT and security risks, including technology related operational risk scenario analysis.
- Provide timely, relevant, and accurate reporting to forums and committees, as required.
- Provide input into the annual process for operational risk capital requirements.
- Promote a risk-conscious culture across the group and develop positive stakeholder relationships.
- Contribute to special projects / investigations as required, including assessment of external events
- Provide training and support to users of the ERM software tool.
- Implement appropriate plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of the tasks to be completed by the Operational Risk Team.

- Able to remain and demonstrate independence when conducting their role.

- Demonstrable effective organisational skills and ability to work well under pressure, with commitment to meet deadlines.
- Good communicator in delivery of management information and reports.
- Effective collaboration skills sharing pertinent information and ideas.
- Strong analytical skills demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
- Keeps up to date with developments in the industry, including emerging risks and regulation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of operational and other non-financial risk management.
- Strong IT literacy and proficient in using Microsoft applications
- Self-motivated team player diligent and flexible in role to business needs.
- 5+ years’ experience within an IT or security risk role.
- CRISC, CISSP, CISM or similar
- Financial services experience preferred.
- Relevant tertiary education i.e. BCom/BSc Degree or similar.
