About the Role

This role provides a foundation in modern engineering, data, automation and analysis, while contributing to real business outcomes in a regulated financial services environment.

As a Technology Analyst, you will join Rathbones Group Technology function and contribute to live work that improves products, platforms, data, automation and client-facing services. You will build practical skills in a real delivery environment, working alongside experienced colleagues and learning how technology creates value in a regulated financial services business.

You will be aligned to a pathway based on business need, your skills and your interests. Each pathway provides hands-on experience, structured learning, regular feedback and exposure to senior leaders and specialists, while giving you a clear route to build long-term capability in a permanent role

Business Analysis Pathway

Role Purpose:

Working closely with stakeholders, Product Owners, delivery leads and engineering teams, the role will help ensure business needs are clearly understood, defined and translated into high-quality technology outcomes. You will support requirements discovery, backlog refinement, testing, implementation readiness and ongoing assurance that delivered solutions meet agreed business, operational and client outcomes.

Requirements and user stories - Help translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and functional expectations.

Process and impact analysis - Support analysis of current processes, user journeys, client impacts, dependencies and operational considerations.

Delivery and testing support - Contribute to backlog refinement, delivery clarification, test preparation, UAT coordination and release readiness.

Technical grounding and AI-enabled analysis - Apply technical curiosity and foundational understanding of systems, data, integration concepts and modern tools, including AI where appropriate, to strengthen requirements discovery, documentation quality, testing insight and delivery efficiency.

Delivery - Contribute to live work within your pathway, taking ownership of defined tasks and producing useful outcomes.

Problem Solving - Break down problems, test ideas, analyse options and recommend practical next steps.

Collaboration - Work with product, engineering, data, architecture, risk and business colleagues to understand needs and deliver iteratively.

Quality & Control - Apply good practice in testing, documentation, security, data protection, auditability and controlled change.

Continuous Improvement - Use feedback, learning and curiosity to improve your work, your technical capability and the wider team's ways of working.

Requirements Analysis - Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document business requirements, user needs and expected outcomes.

User Stories and Acceptance Criteria - Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting analysis that can be understood by business and technology teams.

Stakeholder Collaboration - Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, supporting workshops and discussions to align on scope, requirements and expected outcomes.

Delivery Support - Work with Product Owners, Project Managers, Engineers, Architects and Testers to support refinement, prioritisation, delivery clarification and implementation readiness.

Testing and Quality Assurance - Support test scenario definition, UAT coordination, defect triage and validation that delivered functionality aligns with agreed requirements and acceptance criteria.

Client Reporting Context - Support the ongoing evolution of Rathbones’ reporting capabilities, helping to improve the quality, accuracy and effectiveness of client communications and reporting services.

Modern Tooling - Use technical artefacts such as process flows, system documentation, architecture diagrams and AI-enabled tools to improve analysis quality and delivery effectiveness where appropriate.

Technical Understanding - Build understanding of system flows, data movement, integrations, application behaviour and non-functional considerations so that requirements are grounded in how technology solutions operate in practice.

Pathway Specific Technologies & Knowledge – Desirable but not essential

Delivery tools -  Jira, Confluence, Miro, Microsoft 365, Teams, Excel, Visio or similar collaboration and delivery tools.

Technical tools and concepts -  Coding or scripting, SQL, APIs, data flows, system architecture, test tools, automation, cloud platforms or development environments

AI-enabled and code-assistive analysis - AI and code-assistive tools to support requirements gathering, reverse engineering, documentation, testing insight, automation opportunities and delivery effectiveness.

Reporting platforms - Document composition, reporting platforms, client communication solutions or tools such as Coric.

Business analysis techniques - Requirements gathering, user stories, acceptance criteria, process mapping, journey mapping, stakeholder interviews and workshop support.
