Role Title: Business Analyst - Financial Crime Remediation
Division: Wealth Transformation – First Line of Defence Financial Crime Compliance (1LoD FCC)
Location: London
Contract: 9 month Fixed Term contract
Hiring Manager : Ash Fowler, First Line of Defence FCC Programme Manager
Working pattern: Hybrid
About the Role
Rathbones is delivering a programme of financial crime client remediation to bring existing client due diligence up to the required standard. The Business Analyst will work directly with the First Line of Defence FCC Programme Manager to provide the data, analytical, governance and reporting support needed to deliver the programme accurately, on time and with a clear audit trail.
The role has four core components: managing and reconciling remediation data; producing management information (MI) and reporting; maintaining the project plan and RAID log; and acting as Secretariat to the Line 1 Client Non-Responder Forum.
What you’ll be responsible for
Data management and analysis
- Maintain the remediation master data set as the golden source, including client populations, cohorts, prioritisation and case status.
- Perform reconciliations between workbooks and extracts, identifying duplicates, gaps and inconsistencies, and confirming no data has been lost or corrupted.
- Apply and maintain cohort and prioritisation logic, including re-sequencing approved escalations and recording the rationale for each change.
- Prepare population breakdowns and sample data to support internal governance, Skilled Person and regulatory requests.
- Apply version control, data quality checks and appropriate information classification to all programme data.
MI and reporting
- Produce the weekly MI pack and supporting dashboards, covering outreach stages, case progress, overdue cases and release from restrictions.
- Draft executive summaries and commentary for senior management and programme governance forums.
- Produce Non-Responder Forum MI by remediation activity, including cases listed, deferred, returned and concluded, outcomes, ageing and open actions.
- Respond to ad hoc data requests from stakeholders accurately and within agreed timescales.
Project plan and RAID log
- Maintain the integrated project plan, tracking milestones, dependencies and deliverables, and flagging slippage early.
- Own the RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies), ensuring each item has a named owner, due date and current status.
- Track actions from programme meetings through to completion and escalate overdue items to the Programme Manager.
- Support the preparation of programme governance papers and change control documentation.
Secretariat – Line 1 Client Non-Responder Forum
- Maintain the standing invitation and case pipeline and circulate the agenda and complete packs one working day before each weekly Forum.
- Quality-assure submissions against the escalation pro-forma and pre-escalation checklist before cases are listed.
- Record attendance, quorum, conflicts, recommendations, rationale, alternatives, dissent, conditions and review dates.
- Issue minutes or the decision log within two working days, update the Non-Responder Register and refer recommendations to the relevant approver.
- Track Forum actions to completion and ensure SAR-related information is excluded from Forum papers and broadly accessible
Stakeholder and programme support
- Act as a point of contact for data and reporting queries from Investment Managers and their teams, the outreach team, Middle Office and Second Line FCC.
- Support the maintenance of programme materials, including outreach trackers and Client Remediation Hub content.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality and reporting efficiency.
