The Head of Digital Experience Development is a senior digital leadership role with accountability for shaping, building and continuously improving Rathbones’ flagship digital client interfaces across channels. The role is central to creating intuitive, trusted and differentiated experiences that integrate seamlessly with client data, investment, risk and CLM platforms.

This is an opportunity for an experienced digital leader to influence a market-leading client proposition, partnering across Product, Design, Data, Architecture, Operations and front-line teams to reimagine how clients understand, manage and grow their wealth.

The role will suit someone with significant experience developing, maintaining and evolving digital client platforms, who can combine client insight, engineering excellence, operational resilience and emerging technologies, including AI, to deliver personalised, insight-led client interactions at scale.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Own the end-to-end development, maintenance and continuous evolution of Rathbones’ digital client interfaces, delivering intuitive, personalised and insight-led experiences for clients and advisers.
  • Lead digital engineering across front-end, middleware and API layers, enabling seamless integration with master client data, investment, risk and CLM platforms.
  • Reimagine and continuously evolve the digital proposition, ensuring experiences reflect changing client expectations and emerging needs.
  • Leverage AI and advanced technologies to enhance digital journeys, enabling personalisation, proactive insights and intelligent client interactions.
  • Ensure digital journeys reflect a single, trusted view of the client, with consistent data and outcomes across onboarding, servicing and investment processes.
  • Deliver capabilities that differentiate Rathbones as the first choice provider through clarity, transparency and confidence in client outcomes.
  • Establish best practice in digital experience engineering, including usability, accessibility, performance, security and data integrity.
  • Partner deeply with Product, Design, Data, Architecture, Operations, Risk and business teams to create coherent, end-to-end client journeys aligned to client needs, target operating models and commercial priorities.
  • Ensure alignment to enterprise architecture, enabling scalable, reusable and future-ready digital platforms.
  • Own engineering quality, resilience, service performance and operational readiness
  • Drive DevOps and product-centric ways of working to improve speed, quality, automation and continuous delivery.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership and client-centricity.
  • Act as a senior leader shaping digital strategy and representing digital experience in senior governance forums.

About you

If you meet some of these criteria and are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply

  • Significant experience leading digital client interfaces, portals or mobile experiences in complex, regulated environments, ideally wealth or financial services.
  • Track record of delivering, scaling and improving digital experiences that drive adoption, engagement, satisfaction and business impact.
  • Strong command of the digital product lifecycle, from discovery and design through to release, live service and continuous improvement.
  • Skilled at partnering across Product, Design, Engineering, Architecture, Data, Cyber, Risk, Operations and business teams.
  • Good grasp of platform integration across client data, investment, reporting, risk, CRM, CLM and external channels.
  • Strong appreciation of modern digital engineering, including front end, APIs, cloud, DevOps, automation, observability and AI.
  • Strong knowledge of digital experience best practice, including usability, accessibility, performance, personalisation and feedback loops.
  • Experience running secure, resilient and highly available digital platforms with strong live service and risk controls.
  • Confident senior stakeholder influencer, able to align business, technology and delivery partners behind a clear digital ambition.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing digital teams with pace, ownership, innovation and client focus.
