Role Title: Head of Wealth Proposition

Division: Wealth Management Propositions & Client Experience

Location: Flexible

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Hybrid

About the Role

The Head of Wealth Proposition is a strategic leadership role at the heart of a leading UK wealth management firm’s ambition to be the first choice for clients and talent, the most reputable brand, and the most effective operator in the market. Sitting at the intersection of client needs, market trends, regulatory expectations, and business strategy, this role is responsible for shaping and managing a compelling suite of propositions across discretionary investment management, bespoke portfolio services, and financial planning. While the role champions the integration of advice and investment services, it also recognises the enduring importance of discretionary investment management as a standalone offering for clients who prefer a more focused engagement. The role ensures the firm continues to deliver competitive, compliant, and client-centric solutions to its client base.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Strategic Proposition Development: Lead the design and evolution of the firm’s wealth management propositions, including discretionary investment management, financial planning, and specialist services. Translate market and client insights into differentiated offerings aligned with strategic goals.
  • Portfolio Management and Enhancement: Oversee the proposition portfolio to ensure relevance, competitiveness, and profitability. Regularly review service features, pricing, and client journeys, recommending enhancements or rationalisation where appropriate.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Product Governance: Lead the product governance framework, ensuring all propositions meet FCA requirements, including Consumer Duty and Product Governance rules. Maintain robust governance processes and ensure propositions deliver good outcomes throughout their lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the central point of coordination for proposition initiatives, working closely with Investment, Distribution, Marketing, Operations, Compliance, and Technology to ensure seamless development and delivery.
  • Market and Competitive Intelligence: Leverage insights from internal research and external market analysis to inform proposition strategy. Commission targeted research where needed and embed intelligence into decision-making.
  • Client Experience and Value: Champion the client perspective, ensuring propositions deliver genuine value and are clearly articulated. Embed Consumer Duty principles into all proposition decisions, focusing on understanding, support, and positive outcomes.
  • Commercial Performance: Own the commercial success of propositions, including revenue growth, margin optimisation, and client retention. Build business cases for new propositions and monitor performance against commercial and client outcome metrics.
  • Innovation and Thought Leadership: Drive innovation in areas such as sustainable investing, digital wealth solutions, and intergenerational planning. Position the firm as a thought leader in wealth proposition design.
  • Market Influence: Represent the firm in industry forums, working groups, and external partnerships to shape the future of wealth management. Use thought leadership to enhance reputation and influence across the sector

About you

If you meet some of these criteria and are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply

  • Regulatory and Governance Expertise: Demonstrated experience implementing product governance frameworks and embedding Consumer Duty principles. Ability to balance regulatory compliance with commercial and client-focused decision-making.
  • Leadership and Influence: Proven leadership skills with experience managing high-performing teams and influencing senior stakeholders. Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate complex data and insights into actionable strategy. Skilled in identifying opportunities and making evidence-based decisions.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Deep commitment to understanding and serving client needs. Experience designing client journeys and enhancing experience across multiple touchpoints, with strong alignment to Consumer Duty.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to articulate complex propositions clearly and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Thought Leadership: A recognised voice in the industry with the ability to influence market thinking, contribute to public discourse, and represent the firm’s perspective on the future of wealth management.

How You Need to Do It

  • With Commercial Focus: Balance client value with business performance, ensuring propositions are scalable, profitable, and sustainable.
  • With Regulatory Integrity: Embed governance and compliance into every stage of proposition development and delivery.
  • As an Inspiring Communicator: Translate complex ideas into compelling narratives for clients, colleagues, and the wider market.
