About the Role

 

To provide independent and objective assurance to the Board, Executive and Senior Management.

To be an expert in governance, risk management and control for Rathbones.

Challenge and influence senior executives and their leadership teams in their decisions around appropriate risk management, controls and processes.

Contributing to the development of the Internal Audit (IA) strategy and audit plan,

To act in a deputy capacity for the Head of Internal Audit.

 

What you’ll be responsible for

 

  • Know and influence the Business: build in-depth knowledge of business areas and/or technical specialism to deliver insight on risk and control; build and develop strategic relationships within the business and externally to deliver the IA programme; influence and challenge senior stakeholders with the Bank where required to ensure the provision of independent and objective assurance.
  • Internal Audit Delivery: lead the annual audit planning process and provide support in determining the focus of audit work at both a plan and individual assignment level; Deliver reviews to a high standard in line with industry best practice; support ad hoc activities as required in support of the IA Team objectives; provide consultancy support to the business.
  • Support the implementation of the IA strategy: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the audit department.  Including taking the lead on team improvement activities including new, or improved, ways of working and implementing new approaches to working whilst maintaining a robust audit methodology.
  • People Leadership: motivate, develop and coach colleagues through knowledge sharing and transfer, instilling a culture of continuous learning; Individually maintain a high internal and external profile. Encourage and input to continuous professional development, identify and support training needs development
  • Financial: Deliver audit within agreed man-day budgets and milestone dates
  • Risk and Process: Adhere to all Rathbones policies; complete mandatory training; manage practice.
  • Completion of the Audit Plan
  • Positive feedback on the IA Function and on personal performance
  • Positive EQA and Internal QA feedback
  • Development of a leading-edge Internal Audit team, staffed by engaged, insightful and focussed auditors.
  • Clear IA strategy supported by a focussed programme of continual improvement.

 

 

About you

 

  • Current Financial Services regulatory environments.
  • Wealth and Asset management experience is preferred
  • An ability to develop a good rapport with colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written; with an attention to detail.
  • Inquisitive and analytical mind-set.
  • Tenacious and resilient around execution of assurance activity.
  • Pragmatic and commercial, ability to understand ‘big picture' and context around risk management.
  • Comfortable with aligning audit work with company strategy and an understanding of the commercial context surrounding decisions.
  • Demonstrates empathy with all stakeholders.
  • Able to adapt to change positively. Recognises and adapts to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Accounting qualification: ACA or ACCA.
  • Previous experience in a Financial Services company working with Executive stakeholders.
  • Experience of prudential and conduct regulatory frameworks.
  • Significant experience in Internal Audit, including risk-based methodologies; stakeholder management and a track record of driving GRC improvements in the business.
