Location: London
Contract: 12-month FTC
Working pattern: Hybrid
About the Role
If you’re looking for a role where your content can have genuine reach and influence, this is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark. You will be translating complex investment, financial and economic ideas into content that is clear, interesting and accessible and read by an audience upwards of 20,000. You’ll have a good level of autonomy over the content you create and edit, with the scope over time to innovate and shape how we explain investment issues to clients. The role will span a broad range of topics, with about 60% focused on financial markets, general investment and economic issues and 40% on responsible investment.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Working closely with senior investment experts, including the Chief Investment Officer, as well as key stakeholders and working groups, to commission, edit and create high-quality content. You’ll bring financial markets, responsible investment and economic topics to life, making complex ideas clear, interesting and accessible to a broad client audience.
- Creating content across a varied range of formats, from articles and reports to social media, tailored to private clients and charities. You’ll contribute to flagship publications, including our Investment Insights magazine and annual stewardship report. You’ll also work on our regular market commentary and reactive pieces on the market implications of national and international political events and crises.
- Taking responsibility for content projects from brief through to delivery, managing priorities and timelines to ensure high-quality work is delivered on time.
- Collaborating with teams from across Rathbones Group, including Investment Research, Stewardship, Marketing, Design, Responsible Business and Compliance, bringing together different strands of expertise to create content that is accurate, compelling, timely and aligned with our wider messaging and business development goals.
- Putting clients at the heart of the content you create, using insights and feedback to understand what matters to our audiences and develop relevant communications that make people read on and help retain and win new business.
About you
If you think much of what’s below applies to you and are excited about what you have read, we encourage you to apply:
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience producing content within (or covering) investment management, asset management, economics or personal finance. You are able to turn complex financial and investment topics into clear, absorbing and accessible content.
- A strong understanding of financial markets is essential.
- In-depth responsible or sustainable investment knowledge is not essential, but you should be keen to develop your expertise in this area.
- A creative and curious approach, with the problem-solving skills to develop content that stands out and a willingness to bring new ideas to a team that values innovation.
- An interest in developing your digital content skills, including creating charts, visuals and webpages. Previous experience isn’t essential, provided you’re keen to learn.
- A genuine enthusiasm for learning and developing your knowledge on the job, particularly when it comes to investment and financial topics that develop from month to month and sometimes day to day.
- An interest in using AI to work smarter and enhance content creation. Previous knowledge or experience is beneficial, but not essential.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and subject matter experts across Rathbones.
- The ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities, maintaining high standards when sticking to tight deadlines.
