Job Title: Investment Manager – Strategic Partnership Team

Department: Rathbones Investment Management

Location: London

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting to: Oliver Craven

 

 

The Role

To develop investment business by assisting the Investment Director in the care of client portfolios and managing select portfolios personally. To be part of a profitable team whilst also seeking to grow personal assets under management to enable progression to Investment Director level.

 

Outcomes of the Role

  • Generates good client outcomes by delivering excellent customer service, managing client portfolios (individual and shared) and ensuring suitability. Suitability requires: annual real-time engagement with the client; clear understanding of their investment aims, personal/financial circumstances, investment risk appetite and their knowledge and experience of investment products and services; awareness of any vulnerability.
  • Builds improved contacts with clients and professional advisers to develop new business.
  • Manages risk by reporting concerns relating to improper business practice (e.g. insider dealing, market manipulation, money laundering etc) to Senior Management.
  • Drives the continuing professional development of oneself and of the team.
  • Contributes towards the continuing development of the team and wider Group by participating in projects, committees and other activities as needed.
  • Delivers a timely and efficient client experience by leading team to complete client administration processes and deliver high quality client documentation.
  • Communicates effectively with the Investment Administration team to action or resolve client related matters.
  • Contributes to a high level of technology competence within team by acting as a Super User and by supporting others.
  • Makes informed investment suggestions using strong research and analysis skills and a strong understanding of asset classes
  • Maintaining Competence as defined in the T&C scheme and adhering to the Conduct Rules.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Able to develop investment strategy based on a client’s portfolio and objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience in the administration of client processes and a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements of this administration.
  • Strong research and analysis skills paired with an understanding of asset classes.
  • Confident communicator, skilled at developing client and internal relationships.
  • Strong collaboration skills - proactively seeks to share information and ideas.
  • Keeps up to date with developments in the industry, including new products, legislation and regulation.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of the Investment process.
  • Strong IT literacy and ability to adapt to new systems
  • Background in Investment Management and experience of managing portfolios.
  • Demonstrable experience in the administration of client processes.
  • Level 7 qualification – CISI - CWM or CFA
