Role Title:  Quant Analyst

Department: RIM Research

The Role

To monitor and support the effectiveness of Rathbones’ investment process by producing management information, cleansing data, maintaining databases, and undertaking analysis utilising investment-related financial data as well as business-level meta data. The insights from your work will inform investment process and research insights, as well as supporting the management of the business unit.

Outcomes of the Role

  • Produce MI to support the delivery of the investment process and scope of coverage.
  • Produce and manage responsible investment datasets.
  • Produce data and analysis to support our Co-CIOs strategic Data and Digital vision.
  • Produce data and analysis to support the monitoring of holding limits.
  • Maintain and update processes and procedures to support delivery of investment process.
  • Provide analytical support to portfolio construction and seeded portfolio committees.
  • Oversee liquidity monitoring and reporting including production of analytical outputs.
  • Produce detailed MI reports around AUM across research ratings, buy in to investment process and asset flows, research coverage delivery, insights on largest security exposures, liquidity reporting and internal research readership.
  • Present MI report findings to and discuss with senior stakeholders. Make appropriate actionable recommendations as a result of discussions.
  • Ensure data is accurate, issued on a timely basis with analytical insights or anomalies surfaced and escalated on a pro-active basis.
  • Pro-actively maintain knowledge of industry developments, software and insights, exploring quantitative tools, AI, data science techniques and how these can be incorporated to refresh existing processes and provide fresh data-driven insights.
  • Ensure that data is presented in a clear and digestible format, taking care to ensure that it is audience-appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with Data and Data Engineering teams, and other key staekholders, to ensure a collective approach to data management and delivery.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

 

The role holder will be comfortable managing large data sets and utilising data warehousing/cataloguing and analytical automation tools to support the building of data reporting processes that make the production of analytical insights more efficient and meaningful. Experience with and familiarity using data visualisation tools is needed to suitably provide insights into client portfolios and investments, seamlessly incorporating new and existing relevant data sets from an array of external vendors.

  • Using disparate sources of data from a series of external vendors, produce analytical reports or dashboards using Power BI to provide insights to Research and Investment Managers.
  • Maintain and update processes and procedures to support delivery of new data and analytical reporting processes.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business, communicating complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Provide other data manipulation, automation, and analytical support to investment or governance committees and for other initiatives as required.
  • Demonstrable self-starter who can take initiative and operate successfully on an independent basis.
  • Experience of the following tools and applications: Snowflake (data warehousing and transformation), Alteryx (analytics automation), Power BI (data visualisation), FactSet (wealth management data and analytics), Bloomberg, Morningstar.
  • Comfortable working across MS Office suite of applications.
  • Graduate level or above in a financial discipline or similar.
  • Experience as a Data Analyst in a financial service setting desirable.
