About the Role
Entry level role to Wealth Management designed to develop core knowledge of investment & portfolio management, client support and service, technical skills, and commercial acumen. The role provides a strong foundation in Wealth Management and builds an understanding of compliance, risk and business development. This role allows future tailoring of career in Investment Management or Portfolio Management.
What you’ll be responsible for
Client Service & Suitability:
• Deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience through proactive engagement and clear communication using a Rathbones tone of voice.
• Support the team’s suitability requirements, including awareness of vulnerability.
• Develop an understanding of Financial Planning, Portfolio Management and other services to enable holistic client outcomes.
Investment, Portfolio Management & Technical Development:
• Assist with investment research, asset allocation, and management of portfolios.
• With support and supervision, interpret market conditions and contribute to investment discussions, model build and portfolio construction.
• Gain proficiency in systems (e.g. FactSet, RID, Seismic) and prepare meeting packs, proposals, suitability documentation and tailored quarterly reporting.
• Develop knowledge of quantitative methods, financial maths, statistics and economics.
Business Development & Growth:
• Support the preparation of pitches, proposals, and performance reviews for prospective and existing clients.
• Participate in training on presentation skills, delivering the Rathbones pitch and wider industry awareness.
• Begin building an external network to support future referrals and commercial opportunities.
Team Contribution & Learning:
• Engage in shadowing, mentoring, and collaborative learning with peers and experienced colleagues.
• Attend research meetings, internal forums, and CPD events.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to self-development and feedback.
About you
• Strong analytical and research capabilities.
• Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g. FactSet)
• Understanding of investment principles, risk frameworks, and regulatory environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Client-centric mindset with a proactive approach to service.
• Collaborative, curious, and commercially aware.
• Demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, decision making skills and accountability.
• Seeks feedback and strives for continuous improvement.
• Exposure to financial services, investment, or client-facing environments.
• Experience preparing documentation, presentations, or reports.
